Over 60 dead from snow avalanches in Kashmir

At least 55 people lost their lives and many are missing as a result of the snow avalanches in Kashmir - the Pakistani-controlled part. Pakistani officials said on Tuesday that many villagers remain trapped in the Nellum Valley, which has also been affected by landslides due to rainfall. Avalanches and landslides are common occurrences in Kashmir, a region of the Himalayas that is divided between Pakistan and India. Officials in the Indian-administered area said at least ten people, including soldiers, were killed as a result of avalanches in the area. Bad weather has killed more than 110 people in Pakistan and neighboring Afghanistan in recent days.
