Canada: Iran to ship black boxes of Ukrainian aircraft to France

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today urged Tehran to send black boxes of the Ukrainian liner, mistakenly struck January 8 by Tehran, to a laboratory in France for analysis.

"Only some countries like France have lobbyists capable of doing so," Trudeau said at a news conference.

"This would be the right place to send these black boxes and get the right information as soon as possible, and we encourage the Iranian authorities to agree to do so," Trudeau added.

Of the 176 people on board, all of whom died in the tragedy, 57 were Canadian citizens.

"Black boxes are badly damaged and it is very important (...) that they are examined as soon as possible," he added.
